On Wednesday, June 25, Saint Mary’s Hospital proudly dropped off their contribution to the United Way of Greater Waterbury’s 20th Annual Stock the Pantry food drive. The summer heat did not discourage generosity, and after a week-long initiative, Saint Mary’s colleagues donated 240.3 pounds of food, helping the region surpass its goal by collecting over 31,000 pounds of food.

Travis Raboin, Manager of Clinical Engineering and Cheryl Hilton, Regional Manager, Community Health & Wellbeing hold the donation weight total.

The “Stock the Pantry” program makes sure that families and children across the region have access to food throughout the summer. Saint Mary’s contribution was a testament to the hospital’s Mission and Core Value of Commitment to Those Experiencing Poverty and overall community care.

"At Saint Mary's Hospital, our commitment to supporting those experiencing poverty is one of our Core Values," said Cheryl Hilton, Regional Manager of Community Health and Well Being, Trinity Health Of New England. "We strive to serve our community with compassion, dignity, and respect, ensuring that every individual receives the care and support they deserve."

Every box and can donated was a step toward addressing local food insecurity, which is especially critical during the summer months when school meals are unavailable. The United Way expressed heartfelt thanks for Saint Mary’s partnership, calling it a “powerful example of community in action.”
