March 30, 2026Categories: Events
On March 20, the Naugatuck Internal Medicine staff had an early start in celebrating World Down Syndrome Day. The official day for World Down Syndrome Day is March 21; the date symbolizes the presence of a third copy of the 21st chromosome.

The Naugatuck team joined the global "Lots of Socks" campaign. Down Syndrome International created the initiative to raise awareness around Down Syndrome and advocate for the rights, inclusion and well-being of people living with Down Syndrome.
Colleagues wore mismatched socks and the official awareness colors, blue and yellow, which helped spark conversations about diversity and acceptance.
The day was made even more special by a visit from Santino, son of Sara Miceli, PA-C. Santino was as smiley as ever, delighted to see everyone rocking their socks and colors in celebration of his "extra" chromosome.
