Saint Mary's shines in teal for International Long COVID Awareness Day.

This year’s International Long COVID Awareness Month focuses on the effects of COVID-19 and Long COVID on the heart and cardiovascular system. According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 10–20% of people infected with COVID-19 experience prolonged symptoms. Patients may face complications ranging from cardiac and neurological issues to multi‑organ damage, chronic pain, fatigue, autoimmune disorders, new allergies and more than 200 associated symptoms.

Saint Mary’s joined 513 landmarks across 34 states and 20 countries in illuminating facilities in teal as part of the global #LitForLongCovid initiative. Community members were encouraged to participate by wearing teal, lighting homes or workplaces in teal and sharing personal stories or messages of hope on social media.

There are many ways for individuals to continue supporting those living with Long COVID. Local organizations welcome volunteers, and community groups can host educational events or fundraisers to support ongoing research and patient resources.
