On December 17, the Auxiliary of Saint Francis Hospital celebrated the holiday season, welcoming hospital colleagues and guests in the Rotunda with the annual Ceremonial Christmas Tree Lighting and Carol Sing.

(L to R) Valerie Powell-Stafford, President, Saint Francis; Susan Joyse, President of the Auxiliary; Judy Hill, MSN, RN, Nursing Director, Women & Infants; Janet Alejandro, MA, RN, CLC, Nurse Manager, NICU; Jose Arias-Camison, MD, NICU Director; Kathy Corbalis, Auxiliary Event Chair; Mike Rogers, Mission Leader.

Each year, the Auxiliary sells ornamental ribbons in honor or memory of caregivers and loved ones. These beautiful ribbons adorn the hospital’s Christmas trees and celebrate the impact that these individuals have made on our lives. Gold and silver ribbons are placed in honor or memory of a friend or family member, while purple ribbons honor physicians, nurses, caretakers or colleagues at Saint Francis or Mount Sinai.

At the event, guests were greeted with remarks from Susan Joyse, President of the Auxiliary, and Valerie Powell-Stafford, MHSA, FACHE, President of Saint Francis and Mount Sinai. Kathy Corbalis, Event Chair, presented a gift of $5,000 to support the Saint Francis NICU. Mike Rogers, Mission Leader, provided a blessing, while pianist George Ominsky entertained guests with the playing of “Silent Night” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful.” In addition, the Northwest Catholic High School Yuletide Singers delighted attendees with beautiful renditions of “The First Noel,” “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear,” and “O Christmas Tree.”

The Auxiliary is grateful to the Saint Francis and Mount Sinai community for their ongoing support of this meaningful holiday annual fundraiser.
