On December 11, the Auxiliary of Saint Francis kicked off the holiday season and welcomed hospital colleagues and guests in the Rotunda with the annual Ceremonial Christmas Tree Lighting and Carol Sing. Every year, the Auxiliary sells ornamental ribbons in honor or memory of caregivers and loved ones. These beautiful ribbons adorn the hospital’s Christmas trees and celebrate the impact that these individuals have made on our lives. Gold and silver ribbons are placed in honor or memory of a friend or family member, while purple ribbons honor physicians, nurses, caretakers, or colleagues at Saint Francis or Mount Sinai.
Colleagues and friends gathered in the Saint Francis Rotunda for the annual Tree Lighting and Carol Sing.
At the event, guests were greeted with remarks from Ranjana Chawla, President of the Auxiliary, and Valerie Powell-Stafford, MHSA, FACHE, President of Saint Francis and Mount Sinai. Kathy Corbalis and Joan Hopper, Auxiliary Ribbon Co-Chairs, presented a gift of $5,000 to support the Safe and Healthy Beginnings program of the OB/GYN clinic. Mike Rogers, Mission Leader, provided a blessing, while pianist George Ominsky entertained guests with the playing of “Silent Night” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful.” In addition, members of the Mennonite choir delighted attendees with a beautiful rendition of “Joy to the World.”
The Auxiliary is grateful for the support of the Saint Francis and Mount Sinai community for their support of this meaningful holiday annual fundraiser which ultimately benefits those in need being served by the hospitals throughout the year.
