Dawn Walker, Intake Specialist at the Greater Hartford Family Advocacy Center, greeted attendees at the welcome table.

The family-friendly celebration brought together community partners from across the Asylum Hill neighborhood to showcase local resources, programs, and services while providing a fun and engaging afternoon for attendees.

The park was buzzing with excitement throughout the day. Children arrived in colorful costumes and visited dozens of tents to collect treats, participate in activities, and learn about the resources available in their own community. Families enjoyed music, games, pumpkin painting, and freshly prepared wood-fired pizza. The Hartford Public Library’s Library on Wheels offered festive reading selections, while community organizations connected residents to resources focused on health, housing, youth development, nutrition, and safety.

A highlight of the event was the lively entertainment provided by the Hartford Proud Drill, Drum, and Dance Corps, whose energetic performance had attendees dancing along. Families also joined in Double Dutch activities, creating memorable moments for participants of all ages. The afternoon concluded with a crowd-favorite costume contest that showcased the creativity of neighborhood children. Contestants proudly displayed their costumes for the judges, and the winners received gift baskets generously donated by the Auxiliary Gift Shop at Saint Francis Hospital.

More than a Halloween celebration, this year’s What’s In Our Neighborhood continues to demonstrate the power of collaboration and community partnership. By bringing together healthcare, social service, educational, and community organizations in one location, the event helps residents discover the many resources available to support their health and well-being. Trinity Health Of New England shares gratitude to all the volunteers, departments, community partners, and families who made this year’s event a success.
