Earlier this month, the Saint Francis Hospital Research Development Office hosted it annual Research Day, which showcased the latest research from across Saint Francis Hospital, Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital, and beyond. A record-breaking 87 posters were submitted, representing 18 departments, 60 organizations and 298 authors.
Veronica Maria Pimentel, MD, MS, FACOG, Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist and Director of Research for OB/GYN Residency at Saint Francis, who delivered the keynote address, hears from one of the almost 300 authors represented at 2025 Research Day.
The primary goal of Research Day is to spotlight the diverse and impactful research being carried out by clinicians, learners, and colleagues within our organization. It is a celebration of the dedication and hard work that fuels innovations in health care, as well as an opportunity to foster a culture of learning and collaboration.
This year’s keynote address was delivered by Veronica Maria Pimentel, MD, MS, FACOG, Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist and Director of Research for OB/GYN Residency at Saint Francis. Dr. Pimentel’s talk, titled “Beyond the Exam Room: Advancing Health Equity Through Research in a Community Hospital,” sparked meaningful dialogue on bridging gaps in care and promoting equity through innovative research.
A recording of Dr. Pimentel’s presentation, along with a virtual poster exhibition, is available for viewing HERE.
Research Day was held in the CIPCI Learning + Innovation Center at Saint Francis, with posters displayed in the lobby, common area, and collaborative theater. The event was organized by the Saint Francis Office of Research Development with assistance from various organizational departments to provide a space for emerging and established researchers to connect, share ideas, and inspire one another. Research Day reflects the mission of the Office of Research Development, which is to advance scholarship, foster research excellence, and continuously improve the quality of care.
