These graduates represented a wide range of care areas including the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, Main Operating Room, Medical-Surgical Inpatient Units, Cardiology, and Women and Infants.
The graduates of the yearlong Nurse Residency Program represented a wide range of care areas.
Throughout the program, this cohort forged strong connections, tackled time management challenges, and enhanced their clinical knowledge through activities such as a Jeopardy-style patient management game. They also deepened their understanding of medication safety, worked collaboratively to prevent hospital-acquired conditions through case study presentations, and honed their conflict resolution skills.
As part of their professional development, the residents completed evidence-based quality improvement projects which covered topics ranging from IV swab cap compliance, the impact of STOP THE BLEED® education, the relationship between rest breaks and burnout, staff satisfaction with Code Blue debriefs, and interdisciplinary communication of patient mobility status. Other projects addressed education on incontinence brief use in heart failure patients, discharge management of patients with maternal hypertensive disorders, and compliance with the Bedside Mobility Assessment Tool (BMAT).
“This milestone marks an important chapter in the careers of these new nurses, and we couldn’t be prouder of their growth and achievements,” said Kaitlyn Savicki, MSN, RN, Center for Nursing Education and Practice Innovation.
The Nurse Residency Program is co-led by Melissa Mulvey, MSN, RN-BC, and Kaitlyn Savicki, MSN, RN, who have dedicated themselves to ensuring the success and professional growth of each cohort.
