Your Stories: Saint Francis Colleagues Teach Stop the Bleed at Yard Goats Game

Colleagues from Saint Francis Hospital recently joined representatives from other local hospitals at a Hartford Yard Goats game for a large-scale Stop the Bleed event at Dunkin’ Park. Colleagues from the Trauma Department, Emergency Department and Surgical Trauma Unit represented Saint Francis at the event.

Organized by the American College of Surgeons, fans at the game learned the steps of Stop the Bleed on the jumbotron, while certified instructors were stationed around the park to teach the hands-on portion of the program. Participants learned the lifesaving steps of stopping traumatic bleeding, which is the leading cause of death in trauma injuries.
