On Friday, August 1, Hartford Whalers alumni visited Saint Francis Hospital as part of the Hartford Yard Goats 8th Annual “Whalers Alumni Weekend.” The former NHL players visited with patients and colleagues to chat, sign autographs, and take photos.

Hartford Whalers alumni visited with patients and colleagues, including the ICU.

Former Whalers in attendance included Dave Babych, Wayne Babych, Jeff Brubaker, Archie Henderson, Andre Lacroix, Bob Crawford, Gerry McDonald, Norm Barnes, Paul Lawless, Russ Anderson, Yvon Corriveau, and Chuck Kaiton, “the voice of the Whalers.”

The Whalers alumni participated in a press conference at Saint Francis, coming into the Rotunda while “Brass Bonanza” played. After being introduced by Kaiton, the team’s legendary announcer, the NHL greats participated in an autograph and photo session with hospital colleagues. Led by Daniel Gerardi, M.D., Chief of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine, and Evan Nadler, M.D., Pulmonary and Critical Care, the players visited several units within the hospital to visit with patients.

On Saturday, Dr. Gerardi represented Saint Francis at that evening’s Yard Goats game, throwing out a first pitch before going on-air during the live broadcast with play-by-play announcer Jeff Dooley.
