Kimberly Lumia, MSN, MBA, RN, FACHE, has been named Vice President of Operations of Saint Francis Hospital and Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital. Kim is an experienced health care executive with over 25 years of experience who has led successful financial turnarounds, strategic integrations and quality improvements across multiple health care systems.

Kimberly Lumia, MSN, MBA, RN, FACHE, has been named Vice President of Operations at Saint Francis and Mount Sinai.

Since 2016, Kim has served as Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President at Prospect Waterbury Health East, guiding a system of nine acute care hospitals comprising 1,500 beds and a physician enterprise of employed and independent physicians. She also oversaw the operations of six ambulatory surgery centers, home health and hospice services, imaging, laboratory services, long term rehabilitation, a post-acute concierge program and wound care services.

While at Prospect Waterbury Health East, Kim led a $120 million financial turnaround plan, developing and implementing market strategy and business development initiatives focused on growth and care coordination. Her leadership in quality and patient experience resulted in significant reductions in hospital-acquired infections, inpatient length of stay, serious safety events and patient falls alongside improved CMS Star ratings. Kim is also passionate about fostering community relationships and driving market-based growth initiatives.

Kim has a strong background in nursing and health care leadership that is reflected in her commitment to enhancing patient outcomes and operational excellence. A Connecticut native, she started her career as a bedside nurse in cardiac intensive care, surgical intensive care and trauma. Kim has held several leadership roles, including team leader at John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona; manager, director and service line leader at the Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven; and Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer at Sharon Hospital. 

Kim spent seven years in Phoenix pursuing her nursing education, earning an associate degree from Glendale Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University and both a Master of Science in Nursing and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. She is the past president of the Connecticut Association of Healthcare Executives, is an advisory board member for the Quinnipiac University School of Health Sciences, was on the board of directors for Access Rehab and a board chair of Make-A-Wish Connecticut.
