Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States, accounting for about one in five of all cancer deaths. According to the American Lung Association, more people die of lung cancer each year than of colon, breast, and prostate cancers combined.

In recognition of his dedication to providing life-changing care to patients around the region facing lung cancer and lung disease, Anil Magge, M.D., Director of Interventional Pulmonology at Saint Francis, has been named the Medical Honoree at the 2025 LUNG FORCE Walk.

The American Lung Association’s annual LUNG FORCE Walk supports groundbreaking research, early detection programs and resources for patients and caregivers. Proceeds from the event directly support their mission to eliminate lung cancer, improve air quality and reduce the burden of lung disease, and eliminate tobacco use and tobacco related illnesses. Trinity Health Of New England is once again proudly serving as a sponsor of the 2025 LUNG FORCE Walk at Great River Park in East Hartford.

Making the event extra special this year, Anil Magge, M.D., Director of Interventional Pulmonology at Saint Francis Hospital, will be recognized as the event’s Medical Honoree. Dr. Magge is dedicated to providing life-changing care to patients throughout the region facing lung cancer and lung disease. He leads a team at Saint Francis that recently completed the 1,000th robotic-assisted bronchoscopy procedure using the Ion endoluminal system, becoming the first hospital in Connecticut to achieve the milestone. Dr. Magge is active in training pulmonary and critical care fellows and is active in research projects and clinical trials, further underscoring his commitment to improving lung health.

The annual event takes place on Saturday, June 7, at 9:00 a.m., and raises funds for research, early detection initiatives, and awareness outreach to vulnerable communities. All colleagues are welcome and encouraged to join the Trinity Health Of New England team to participate in this year’s walk. The family and dog-friendly event includes a scenic walk along the Connecticut River.
