Saint Francis Hospital recently hosted the 61st Annual Jeresaty Cardiovascular Symposium, the oldest cardiovascular symposium in the United States. Led by Pam Delfino, MSN, RN, NE-BC, Director, Cardiovascular Services Line, and Richard Soucier, M.D., the symposium covers the newest updates in cardiovascular care. For 2025, the focus was diagnosis and treatment of patients with valvular heart disease and cardiomyopathy.

Attendees were welcomed by Valerie Powell-Stafford, MHSA, FACHE, President, Hartford Market, while Dr. Soucier moderated each session. Leaders in cardiovascular medicine from around the country offered their expertise on a number of topics. Speakers included Douglas Drachman, M.D., Director of Education at Massachusetts General Hospital; Mandeep Mehra, M.D., Executive Director, Center for Advanced Heart Disease at Brigham Health; Brian Houston, M.D., Director, Mechanical Circulatory Support at Medical University of South Carolina; Katie Young, M.D., Co-Director of the Cardiovascular Obstetrics Clinic at Mayo Clinic; and Joseph DeSimone, M.D., Chief of Cardiac Surgery, Saint Francis Hospital.
Robert Jeresaty, M.D., was the first Chief of Cardiology at Saint Francis and held the position for 35 years. In 1965, he established a cardiology symposium, which was named in his honor in 1995.
