Leaders in Pulmonary and Critical Care medicine recently gathered for the Fourth Annual Bimalin Lahiri, M.D. Lecture at Saint Francis Hospital. The 2024 Lahiri Lecture was titled “Managing COPD in 2025: Simplifying the Evidence.”

Providers from around the region heard a keynote address from Bartolome Celli, M.D., Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Celli, who is also an attending physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, is a world-renowned expert on COPD. 

“We were very proud to welcome our colleagues back to Hartford for this annual lecture,” said Daniel Gerardi, M.D., FCCP, Chief of Pulmonary, Interventional Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at Saint Francis. “We were delighted to have this opportunity to provide ongoing education to our peers and partners about advancements in pulmonary and critical care medicine, to honor our mentor Dr. Lahiri, and to welcome back our inspirational friend and colleague, Dr. Bartolome Celli.”

The Bimalin Lahiri, M.D. Lecture was established to honor the legacy of Dr. Lahiri, a pioneer in the field of pulmonary and critical care medicine in the state of Connecticut, whose career at Saint Francis spanned four decades. During that time, he mentored and taught countless medical students, residents, and fellows. Dr. Lahiri touched the life of everyone he came in contact with, especially his patients. As astute clinician with an unparalleled work ethic, he dedicated his life to medical education and patient care.
