Saint Francis Hospital is one of the first hospitals globally to offer the fourth generation Mako SmartRobotics™ for spinal surgery. Mako Spine is designed to transform the way spinal surgery is performed by helping to streamline workflows, simplifying complex clinical tasks, and enabling surgeons to have greater confidence that they are executing their procedure to plan.
Saint Francis is proud to be one of the first hospitals globally to offer the fourth generation Mako SmartRobotics for spinal surgery.
Mako SmartRobotics™ is designed to elevate surgeon control and confidence and help optimize implant placement by combining 3D CT-based planning and AccuStop™ haptic technology, virtual boundaries build based on the surgeon’s plan. Only Mako features AccuStop™ haptic technology, which provides auditory, visual, and tactile feedback that helps surgeons stay within the planned boundaries during bone prep and implant placement. Mako Spine allows for a customized experience and intuitive workflow, with the ability to move from level to level as needed.
“We are excited to be able to offer this transformative technology to our patients in need of spinal surgery, as we expand our minimally invasive surgical program.” Valerie Powell-Stafford, MHSA, FACHE, President, Saint Francis. “As the first in New England to offer this highly advanced technology, adding this new system underscores our commitment to providing the most advanced, highest-quality care to our patients throughout the region.”
Saint Francis has been using Mako SmartRobotics™ for joint replacement surgery since 2019, and adding Mako Spine helps expand options for a greater range of patients. For more information about spinal surgery at Saint Francis, visit TrinityHealthOfNE.org/Spine.
