Syed Hussain, M.D., Assumes Chief Medical Officer Role in Hartford Market

Syed Hussain, M.D., Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer for Trinity Health Of New England has assumed the additional role of Chief Medical Officer for the Hartford Market. As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Hussain will provide clinical leadership and administrative direction in developing and attaining strategic and operating objectives related to medical practice and patient care at Saint Francis Hospital and Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital. He will also serve as a liaison between administration and the medical staff and provide leadership in advancing quality initiatives, clinical care, patient satisfaction, and physician/colleague satisfaction.
In his role as Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Hussain will provide clinical and administrative leadership at Saint Francis and Mount Sinai.
Dr. Hussain was included in the Becker Hospital Review’s 2025 edition of “Chief Medical Officers to Know,” an honor he also received in 2020 and 2024 for his “commitment to enhancing hospitals and health systems on quality improvement and safety initiatives.” He was also honored as a 2020 Healthcare Hero by the Hartford Business Journal.
Before joining Trinity Health Of New England in 2018, Dr. Hussain served as Chief Medical Officer at Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, and as Associate Market Chief Medical Officer at Detroit Medical Center, where he also served in several clinical leadership roles. Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Hussain completed his graduate medical education training in internal medicine at Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University and was subsequently a fellow in the GME Physician Leadership Fellowship Program at Tenet/Detroit Medical Center.
