Your Stories: Saint Francis Gastroenterology Department Celebrates Milestones

The Saint Francis Gastroenterology Department was well represented at the 32nd Annual Beyond the Scope Conference held by the Connecticut society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates.

Jinghong Yu, MSN, RN, CGRN, RN-BC, was presented with the 2024 Connecticut Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (CTSGNA) GI Nurse of the Year Award. This award is presented annually to a nurse in Connecticut who demonstrates a dedication to the safe and effective practice of GI nursing. Jinghong was honored for exemplifying compassion, commitment, and caring for patients experiencing health issues specific to the GI tract.

Caitlin Rinn, RN, obtained her Specialty Certification as a Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (CGRN). The American Board of Certification for Gastroenterology Nurses (ABCGN) awards the only professional certification for gastroenterology nurses, which validates the highest standards of patient care and recognizes the caregivers who demonstrate this commitment through CGRN achievement. This credential has been accredited by the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC).

The department was also represented at the 32^nd Annual Beyond the Scope Conference held by the CTSGNA. Sohaib Jamil, M.D., Medical Director, Endoscopy, gave a presentation on Endoscopic Mucosal Resections. Also in attendance at the conference were colleagues including Caitlin Rinn, RN; Holly Sanzo, RN; June Yang, RN; Kathy Vinci, RN; Anna Liu, CNA; Avonelle Brandon, RN; Marie Reyes, CNA; Dawn Kirschner, RN; Jessica Seybold, RN; Jing Yu, RN; and Lauri Santy, RN. The conference was a great educational and networking opportunity for Endoscopy team members!
