A corn-hole tournament, tug of war, and touch-a-truck were a few highlights from the Saint Mary’s Hospital Summer Fest event on Saturday, June 29. Held at La Bella Vista in Waterbury, Summer Fest brought together over 100 colleagues and their families to raise proceeds for the Colleague Care Fund and the Colleague Crisis Fund.
The Colleague Care Fund was established to support colleague care efforts such as comfort carts, the creation of tranquility rooms, and other programs that promote safety, health and well-being. The Colleague Crisis Fund was created to assist colleagues who need aid when they experience a financial emergency.
Dave Koscuk, President, Trinity Health Of New England Mobile Healthcare, and his daughter were named Corn-Hole Champions, while Kim Kalajainen, President of Saint Mary’s Hospital and her son were runners-ups.
The Waterbury Police Department, Waterbury Fire Department and Trinity Health Of New England Mobile Healthcare provided vehicles for the always popular touch-a-truck display. Summer Fest featured raffles, and a bake sale to assist the fundraising effort. Nearly $5,000 was raised to boost the Funds.
“We’re grateful to the event committee for all their work in putting together Summer Fest so quickly. They did a tremendous job,” said Husnain Kermalli, M.D., Chief Medical Officer. “The wellbeing of our colleagues is a priority for us, so keeping these special funds replenished is very important. We want to be able to assist our colleagues whenever they need it. The proceeds from this event will help immensely.”
