Your Stories: Mount Sinai Collects Donated Shirts for Patients

The Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit Practice Council at Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital recently held a collection for new and gently used shirts.
Aurora Mlynek, RN, was chosen as the recipient of a gift basket donated by the Auxiliary Gift Shop as a thank you for donating to the Inpatient Rehab shirt collection.
Rehab patients often need loose, comfortable clothing to participate in therapy and many have limited access to get their belongings from home. The donation of shirts provides much needed physical comfort and a sense of normalcy during a patient’s healing journey.
The team collected 76 shirts that will help provide comfort, confidence and support to patients receiving rehabilitation care who may not have access to clothing during their recovery. The Inpatient Rehab team thanks everyone who donated to the shirt drive.
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who donated,” said Liliani Rosa-Marasiotis, RN, Nursing Professional Development Specialist at Mount Sinai. “Thank you all for helping bring a little extra comfort and kindness to our patients.”
Donors received a raffle ticket for each item they contributed for a chance to win a gift basket donated from the Auxiliary Gift Shop. Aurora Mlynek, RN, was the chosen recipient of the beautiful gift basket.
