As a former patient, Bob Alves has long been a friend to the Sister Caritas Center at Mercy Medical Center. For the past 11 years, he has sponsored the “Wicked in Pink” Motorcycle Run to show his thanks for the care he received. The annual event draws hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts who follow a route from locations in Southwick to Feeding Hills. Riders, who typically don their best pink outfits, often participate year after year.

Held in October, the most recent “Wicked in Pink” Motorcycle Run was a tremendous success, drawing 600 riders and 800 participants including Sister Mary Caritas, SP, for whom the Mercy cancer center is named. The event raised $20,000 for the Sister Caritas Cancer Center’s Patient Services Fund. Alves presented the check to Mercy leaders during “Celebrity Rock-Tender Night” – another fundraising event that featured the leaders of local bands and was held at the Rumbleseat Bar and Grille in Chicopee. The event raised an additional $1600 for the Sister Caritas Cancer Center.
