Mercy nursing education leaders hosted a “meet and greet” breakfast to welcome the latest group of new nurses to the hospital. The informal gathering gave the new nurses a chance to introduce themselves to their colleagues, meet nursing leaders, and learn more about the hospital. This is the third “class” of new nurses to join the staff at Mercy – a total of 53 new nurses have come on board since the beginning of June.

The event provides opportunity for new nurses to meet each other and learn about the hospital.

“Nursing retention is just as important as efforts around recruitment and we are committed to ensuring that our new nurses have everything they need to succeed in their new clinical roles, regardless of whether they are returning to the nursing field or they are new to the profession,” said Melissa Kline, MSN, RN, Manager, Nursing Professional Practice and Education, Mercy Medical Center. Melissa, and other members of the Nursing Education Department, shared their own stories of how they came to work at Mercy and what they enjoy about their jobs.
