July 19 was a special day for 36 nurses as they began their careers at Mercy Medical Center. The occasion began with a special breakfast that also served as a “meet and greet” event. Hosted by Mercy’s Nursing Education Department, the casual gathering gave the new nurses a chance to introduce themselves to each other, meet nursing leaders, and learn more about the hospital. The new nurses are recent graduates from nursing programs at American International College, Elms College, Holyoke Community College, Westfield State University, University of Hartford, and Springfield Technical Community College.

“Although some of our new nurses have worked in other facilities, most of the members of this group are new to the profession. We are committed to setting them up for success as they make the transition from the classroom to their posts at Mercy,” said Ashlee Boyle, MSN, RN, Nurse Educator and PALS Coordinator, Emergency Department, Mercy Medical Center.

A similar graduate RN breakfast session was held in June to welcome 30 newly hired nurses who began their tenure at Mercy last month.
