In 1979, Jimmy Carter was President, the Sony Walkman was introduced, Superman was the number one movie, and Claire Margosiak, RN, began her career at the former Sisters of Providence Health System. Over the last 45 years, Claire has been a valuable member of the Mercy Medical Center team.
Robert Roose, M.D., MPH, President of Mercy Medical Center and Johnson Memorial Hospital, congratulations Claire Margosiak, RN, and wishes her well on her retirement.
Claire began her tenure as an Obstetrics Supervisor at the former Providence Hospital, a position she held until 1996 when she transitioned to the Family Life Center (FLC) as a Nurse Manager and later as the Director. Claire has served as Mercy’s Quality and Regulatory Compliance Coordinator since 2015. Claire is also a graduate of the former Mercy Hospital School of Nursing – and her dorm room was in Memorial House, not far from her current office in the same building.
Claire was the guest of honor at a retirement tea on December 3, where she greeted colleagues and friends she has made over the years. For her part, Claire says Mercy is the only place she has ever wanted to work, in large part because of the culture established by the Sisters of Providence. “The Sisters have been remarkable leaders and we, as well as our patients, benefit from their legacy every day,” said Claire. “They left an indelible mark on the organization, and it lives on as part of our core values – and I’m grateful to have been a part of it for the past 45 years.”
