Welcome to Mercy Medical Center – that’s the message new nurses received at a special breakfast that also served as a “meet and greet” event. Hosted by Mercy’s Nursing Education Department, the informal gathering gave the new nurses a chance to introduce themselves to their colleagues, meet nursing leaders, and learn more about the hospital. With a few exceptions, the new nurses are recent graduates from nursing programs at American International College, Elms College, and Springfield Technical Community College.
“We will have 57 new nurses joining our workforce over the next few weeks, and most of them are new to the profession. With a focus on retention, we want to make sure they’re set up for success as they transition from the classroom to a hospital setting,” said Ashlee Boyle, MSN, RN, Nurse Educator and PALS Coordinator, Emergency Department, Mercy Medical Center.
Another Graduate RN breakfast session is set for July 19 for the next group of newly hired nurses who will come on board next month.
