Johnson Memorial Hospital Launches New Emergency Medical Services

Johnson Memorial Hospital officials are pleased to announce that Trinity Health Of New England Mobile Healthcare has established a branch location at Johnson to provide Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Johnson administrators, colleagues, and local political leaders gathered to officially launch the new EMS with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony mid-July.

Trinity Health Of New England Mobile Healthcare now has one ambulance available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on the Johnson campus. Plans call for adding a second ambulance and two non-transport paramedic intercept vehicles to serve the needs of the local community. Johnson is also the sponsor hospital for EMS currently operating in the region.

The new Trinity Health Mobile Healthcare ambulances will allow Johnson to provide interfacility and critical care transfers at the hospital. As a result, patients who are critically ill or need a higher level of care will be transferred more quickly. The ambulances will also be used to transfer patients being discharged from Johnson to another facility or their home.

At the same time, the resources will assist, when available, surrounding communities where Advanced Life Support (ALS) services may be limited by the number of available paramedics at any given time and the vast geographic area these providers serve.

“Johnson Memorial Hospital has long fostered a culture that supports safe, high quality patient care and service excellence. The new addition of Emergency Medical Services is the latest example of this commitment to our patients, their families, the Stafford Springs community, and the surrounding area,” said Robert Roose, M.D., M.P.H., Chief Administrative Officer, Johnson Memorial Hospital and Mercy Medical Center.
