Senator Blumenthal Tours Karen Davis Krzynowek Cancer Center

Just days after the facility’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) had a personal tour of the Karen Davis Krzynowek Cancer Center, the newly renovated facility located on Johnson Memorial Hospital’s Enfield campus, courtesy of Johnson Memorial Hospital administrators and cancer program leaders. The Senator was unable to attend the ribbon cutting as he was leading a congressional team in a visit to Ukraine at the time. The Enfield Cancer Center was among Blumenthal’s first stops upon his return to the U.S.

While touring the Karen Davis Krzynowek Cancer Center, Blumenthal was interested to learn about the construction details of the project including the benefits of having all cancer services together in one location from both clinical and patient perspectives. Cancer program leaders explained that the design of the center supports communication among members of each patient’s care team, thereby reassuring the patient that all providers are “on the same page” and they will receive the treatment they need promptly. Senator Blumenthal also gathered information from Johnson administrators about efforts to stem staffing challenges, particularly in nursing, and issues around workplace violence directed at providers.

“We were honored to welcome Senator Blumenthal to the Karen Davis Krzynowek Cancer Center,” said Robert Roose, M.D., M.P.H., Chief Administrative Officer, Johnson Memorial Hospital and Mercy Medical Center. “We are grateful for his interest in our new cancer center and for his support of our efforts to improve and grow our overall services to better meet the health care needs of local community.”
