The Waterbury (CT) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated in partnership with its other Connecticut Chapters, New Haven (CT), Milford (CT) and Greater Hartford (CT) held a Black Family Wellness Expo at Grace Baptist Church on March 16. Trinity Health Of New England and Saint Mary’s Hospital supported the event with a host of health care resources. The event’s aim was to address the conditions that negatively impact the health and quality of life for many in the Waterbury community, while also working to reduce health and economic disparities that improve lives in the Black community.

The event encompassed the entire Black family, with information and resources for all, from infant to senior citizen. The Waterbury event was part of The Links, Incorporated’s nationwide Black Family Wellness Expos being held across the country on the same day.

In addition to providing clinical information, Trinity Health Of New England and Saint Mary’s Hospital featured several primary care and specialist providers on site. The physicians met one-on-one with attendees and participated in a panel discussion covering topics including, diabetes, nutrition, men’s health, cardiology, and emergency medicine. Trinity Health Of New England also offered PSA and blood pressure screenings on site.
