Patient Experience Week was recognized throughout Trinity Health Of New England from April 28 through May 2. It was an opportunity to acknowledge all those in health care who make a difference in patient care. It also offered a time to reflect on the experiences patients have and how we can improve them. Patient Experience Week prompts us to highlight the human connection at the heart of what we do in our hospitals every day and the power of meaningful interactions. The theme for 2025 was “Building the Foundations of Experience.”

Marquita says she "strives to make every patient feel welcome and comfortable."

During Patient Experience Week, we took the opportunity to highlight a few of our colleagues throughout the region. On our social media platforms, we shared photos as well as their perspective on patient interactions.

"For me patient experience isn't just a role, it's a reflection of who I am. As someone who leads with empathy, I see food as one of the most human ways we show we care. A warm meal, favorite flavor, a thoughtful detail on a tray. These small moments can bring comfort in the hardest times,” said Donna, Patient Experience Manager for Food & Nutrition at Saint Francis Hospital. “I listen to our patients, not just to meet their needs, but to truly understand who they are. Through food I strive to create connection, dignity, and a sense of home, because healing begins with feeling seen, heard and cared for."

Melissa, Laboratory Supervisor at Saint Mary’s Hospital, believes that, “to truly enhance the patient experience and the quality of our service, we must be willing to learn from negative feedback—it often holds the most valuable insights.”

Marquita, Certified Medical Assistant, from the Agawam office shared, “I strive to make every patient feel welcome and comfortable. I incorporate their feelings and opinions when interacting with patients and help them make informed decisions regarding their care.”

"Our patients come to us for help and trust our team to care for them in the most vulnerable times of their lives. It is our honor to serve our community. Our team are compassionate, patient-centered healthcare professionals who truly care about the patients as if they were their own family,” said Kelly, DNP, MSN, RN, CEN, Director of Emergency Services, and Lisa, BSN, RN, Nurse Manager, Emergency Services at Mercy Medical Center.
