The St. Regis parking lot, located on Saint Mary’s campus, was recently transformed into a kind of Halloween town. In collaboration with the Waterbury Health Department, colleagues led by Emergency Department nurse, Crystal Gerace, RN, organized the Trunk or Treat event that was held on Saturday, October 26th.

The purpose of the Trunk or Treat event was to provide a fun and safe environment for families in the community to trick or treat. In addition to trick or treating, visitors also received health and injury prevention tips from colleagues, and information regarding services and programs available in the Waterbury area.
About 300 hundred visitors participated in the event which also offered Frankie’s hot dogs, ice cream and a D.J. “We had a great turn out,” said Gerace. “We really wanted to host an event that would impact the kids in the community in a positive way. Our Mission is to be a compassionate healing presence in the community, and this is a fun way to fulfill that Mission!”
Not only was the event a gift to residents, Gerace said it was a morale boost for colleagues too. Roughly 23 vehicles and their drivers were decorated for the festivities. “It was great to see our colleagues come together in this way.”
