LGW is a personal and career development initiative that works to foster community awareness among future leaders. During the year-long program, participants collaborate with peers to create and implement projects that address the region’s current issues. Through classes, networking events and other opportunities, participants develop and refine key leadership skills.
Healthcare Day focuses on companies and organizations in the greater Waterbury region that provide health care services to the community. On the day’s speaking agenda were representatives from Saint Mary’s, Waterbury Hospital, the Waterbury Health Department, state agencies and non-profits.
In addition to sharing her own journey into nursing, Lisa also spoke about her role managing nursing education, some of the programs that foster nursing practice and ways in which Saint Mary’s and Trinity Health Of New England support its nurses. The current state of health care in Waterbury and trends in the industry were also topics of discussion.
“I always enjoy sharing information about the nursing field and Saint Mary’s,” said Lisa. “The question-and-answer session was lively and engaging. It was evident that the group was genuinely interested in health care today.”
