Saint Mary’s Hospital Participates in Waterbury Promise’s Career Readiness Week Activities.

Representatives from Saint Mary’s Hospital were among the 30 businesses and community organizations that participated in a Waterbury Promise scholar event in March. The workshops and job and internship fair were held at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown Waterbury. It was an opportunity to engage with young people about career pathways, collect resumes, and share information about their expertise.
Andrew Lattimer (CLA), Lisa Roy, DNP, RN, NPD-BC, BCEN (Saint Mary’s Hospital) and Joseph Johnson (Waterbury Public Schools) shared their career journeys and offered invaluable advice as part of the Career Speaker Panel after the fair.
Lisa Roy, DNP, RN, NPD-BC, BCEN, Manager, Nursing Professional Practice and Innovation, at Saint Mary’s, participated in a career speakers panel. The professional group offered valuable insight on their career journeys and shared career advice to the young scholars.
“I was delighted to attend the event and talk with young scholars to understand their career goals,” said Lisa. “The scholars were engaged in conversation and had insightful questions after the panel presentation, which highlighted their commitment to their transition into the workforce.”
Waterbury Promise Scholarship is an initiative that transforms the lives of thousands of Waterbury students. The organization works to eliminate student financial barriers, strengthens the college going culture in the Waterbury Public Schools and provides support to ensure college success.
