Committed to addressing the root causes in medical disparities, Saint Mary’s Hospital hosted the first in Connecticut ‘Black Men In White Coats’ (BMWC) Youth Summit. The event, held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, attracted over 1,300 students, parents, mentors, and volunteers. The goal was to inspire under-represented youth to enter the field of medicine, as well as provide them networking and mentorship opportunities.

The success and positive impact of the day was the result of collaboration and teamwork, and the Saint Mary’s community’s dedication to living our Mission. A special thank you to colleagues from throughout the region who served as volunteers and mentors.

The Black Men in White Coats planning committee is hoping to enlist more colleagues from throughout the Trinity Health Of New England region to help make next year’s event bigger, reaching more young people in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
