As the saying goes, “the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach” and it seems the same could be said for colleagues. Fall colleague appreciation events were held at Mercy Medical Center and Johnson Memorial Hospital recently to thank colleagues for their extra efforts in recent months and to provide an opportunity to welcome in the new season.
Apple cider and donuts are on the menu at Mercy's Fall Colleague Appreciation event.
At Mercy, colleagues gathered in the cafeteria to enjoy apple cider and donuts – sweet treats that celebrate the start of fall. “No matter the role our colleagues have, they are all ‘caregivers’ and we are grateful for everything they have done and continue to do for our patients, our community, and one another. This event is one way we can demonstrate our appreciation for their efforts,” said Robert Roose, M.D., M.P. H., President of Mercy Medical Center and Johnson Memorial Hospital.
At Johnson, colleagues enjoyed apple cider and fried dough, the latter treat courtesy of a colleague and her family. Michelle Cunha, BSN, RN, Nurse Manager, Emergency Department and Adult Behavioral Health, and her family brought their frier and prepared the fried dough for colleagues who enjoyed the snack with their choice of tomato sauce or powdered sugar. “You didn’t have to go to the Big E for the best fried dough around, we had it right here at Johnson,” said Dr. Roose.
