Q 99.7’s “Share the Love” Valentine’s Day promotion focused on our fellow brethren who are transitioning back into the community after incarceration. I knew as soon as I heard about the promotion on the Springfield-area radio station that this was a call for our department to act.

Cards for "Share the Love" promotion.

Many of the patients we serve have been in and out of jail and many times we see people who are hopeless when trying to get their lives back on track. We all have a special place in our hearts for those of our brothers and sisters who are discarded, disenfranchised, dismissed, and suffering. We always work hard to empower, encourage, instill hope, and plant any seeds of positivity we can for them.

On Thursday, February 13, Maria Mead, MSW, LICSW, Behavioral Health Clinical Supervisor, Mercy Medical Center, delivered over 60 cards made with love, encouragement, hope, and kindness to Q 99.7 to contribute to their deliveries of these cards to our brothers and sisters who need them very much. “As humans, it is important to know that our life could take a turn for the worst or better at any time, no human is immune from trauma, abuse, addiction, neglect, or struggle,” said Maria. “We need to love and support one another and always share the love and joy that God gives us in order to help bring others out of dark times.”
