Your Stories: Mercy Colleagues Serve Holiday Meal at Local Shelter
December 20, 2024Categories: Colleague Corner
It’s a holiday tradition that several Mercy Medical Center colleagues, leaders, and supporters look forward to each year – hosting a delicious dinner for those who come to the Friends of the Homeless shelter in Springfield.
Mercy colleagues and leaders host and serve a holiday meal at the Friends of the Homeless shelter in Springfield.
On December 10, colleagues from Mercy’s Health Care for the Homeless program joined members of Mercy’s Executive Leadership Team, Board members, and members of the Sisters of Providence congregation to serve guests at the shelter and bring meals to their tables. Decorative tablecloths and holiday centerpieces added a festive touch as guests enjoyed a tasty pot roast meal. Sister Mary Caritas, SP, also offered a blessing before the meal was served. Sister Caritas served as President of the former Mercy Hospital when the Health Care for the Homeless program was founded over 40 years ago.
Mercy’s Health Care for the Homeless program has sponsored the annual holiday meal at the Friends of the Homeless shelter for more than a decade.
