The Stroke Team from Mercy Medical Center and Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital celebrated World Stroke Day by educating more than 60 colleagues and visitors about common stroke symptoms and the importance of getting anyone experiencing these symptoms help right away so treatment can be started.
Mercy Stroke Team members Sheryl Moriarty and Patti Henault talk with a colleague about stroke symptoms.
The colleagues manned a table outside of the cafeteria, offering printed materials and explaining how to recognize symptoms of a stroke.
Colleagues also provided information about the importance of “BE FAST,” an acronym that stands for Balance, Eyes, Face, Arm, Speech, and Time – recognizing these multiple signs of stroke and getting treatment quickly can prevent death or disability.
