With the Springfield Thunderbirds game as a backdrop, nurse educators from Mercy Medical Center staffed a booth on the concourse at the Mass Mutual Center to teach hockey fans about the importance of heart health.

In addition to meeting and talking with the nurse educators for tips on maintaining heart health, attendees also had a chance to learn life-saving CPR skills through hands-on participation. Upon completion of the instruction, they received a certificate of participation in the CPR training.

“Heart Health Night provided an opportunity to get the word out about what people can do to keep their hearts as healthy as possible, not only through diet and exercise, but also through stress reduction techniques,” said Ashlee Boyle, MSN, RN, Nurse Educator, PALS Coordinator, Emergency Department, Mercy Medical Center. “We are grateful to the Springfield Thunderbirds for their partnership that allowed us to provide this potentially life-saving information in a fun and interactive session.”
