To mark the completion of construction of the S. Prestley and Helen Blake Ambulatory Care Center at Johnson Memorial Hospital’s outpatient campus, a blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony were held on June 26

Trinity Health Of New England leaders join Johnson Memorial Hospital donors and supporters in cutting the ribbon to officially open the S. Prestley and Helen Blake Ambulatory Care Center on Johnson’s outpatient campus in Enfield.

Located in Enfield, the S. Prestley and Helen Blake Ambulatory Care Center is a 42,000 square foot ambulatory access center that features outpatient surgical services with four operating rooms, two procedure rooms, and 20 pre/post operative bays. Diagnostic imaging services are also available at the center including CT scans, x-rays, mammography, bone density scans, and ultrasounds.

“The new ambulatory care center is a tangible example of our efforts to put our patients at the center of everything we do. This facility allows us to better serve residents of northern Connecticut and western Massachusetts by improving access to high-quality care in a convenient location to help us provide an exceptional patient experience,” said Robert Roose, M.D., M.P.H., President of Community Hospitals, Trinity Health Of New England. “We are also grateful for the financial support we’ve received from Trinity Health and from major donors like the Blake family, who have supported the project since the very beginning.”

Until their passing, S. Presley Blake and his wife Helen were longtime supporters of Johnson Memorial Hospital, donating $10 million dollars for the ambulatory care center named in their honor. The Blake’s contribution is the largest single gift dedicated specifically to Johnson.

The opening of the S. Prestley and Helen Blake Ambulatory Care Center marks completion of a more than $50 million dollar expansion and renovation project creating a “hub” for outpatient services on the hospital’s Enfield campus. This project included a six-million-dollar renovation of the Karen Davis Krzynowek Cancer Center that added 5,500 square feet to the facility’s “footprint” and brought all of Johnson’s outpatient cancer services – Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, and physician offices – together under one roof, allowing patients to receive the best possible cancer treatment close to home.
