Diabetes affects approximately 37 million Americans and is the eighth leading cause of death in the United States. Diabetes is a chronic disease, and when poorly managed, can lead to eye, kidney, heart, and nerve damage. Many of us have cared for someone who is affected by diabetes, whether that individual was a patient or a loved one. Being knowledgeable and providing education is a crucial step in assisting those living with diabetes to take charge of their health today to prevent diabetes health problems tomorrow.
