The Auxiliary of Saint Francis welcomed hospital colleagues in the Rotunda on Wednesday for the annual Ceremonial Tree Lighting and Carol Sing. Every year, the Auxiliary decorates Christmas trees with ribbons to remember and honor special colleagues, family members, and friends. Gold and silver ribbons are placed in honor or memory of a friend or family member, while purple ribbons honor special physicians, nurses, caretakers, or colleagues who work at Saint Francis or Mount Sinai.
Prior to the tree lighting, colleagues were welcomed by Ranjana Chawla, President of the Auxiliary, and heard remarks from Thomas Burke, BPharm, MBA, President of Saint Francis and Mount Sinai. Barbara Lentini and Sheila Perretta, Auxiliary Event Co-Chairs, presented a check to leadership, donating proceeds from the sale of the ribbons to the OB/GYN clinic. Jerry Galipeau, Executive Director of Mission Integration, provided a blessing and shared his musical talents, playing the piano to accompany the singing of “Silent Night” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful.” In addition, members of the Mennonite choir sang a beautiful rendition of “Joy to the World.”
