Trinity Health Of New England Spreads Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention Message Throughout October

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Trinity Health Of New England colleagues and providers around the region wore pink and participated in fundraising, awareness, and free mammogram events, all to encourage women to take charge of their health. In the Hartford market, PinkLink provided free screening mammograms to over 50 uninsured and underinsured women in Hartford, Glastonbury, and Enfield. Christina Metcalf, M.D., Director of Breast Surgery at the Comprehensive Women’s Health Center at Saint Francis, appeared on NBC Connecticut to discuss the importance of screening mammograms and PinkLink events in providing equitable healthcare.
In Waterbury, Pink Out raised over $50,000 for the Saint Mary’s Breast Screening Fund which provides mammogram screenings for women in the greater Waterbury area who otherwise may not have access to these procedures. Lisa Attebery, D.O., Breast Surgical Oncologist, was featured in several media interviews including The Morning Buzz on WTNH, Healthy Rounds on WTIC 1080, and the Republican American newspaper. In addition, the breast surgery team was involved in community outreach, speaking at several events including the “Are You Dense?” annual fundraiser, Quilts That Care event, and more.
In the Springfield market, the 2023 “Wicked in Pink” Motorcycle Run raised money for the Sister Caritas Cancer Center Patient fund at Mercy Medical Center. The 11th annual event drew 600 riders and 800 participants, who were all encouraged to wear their best pink outfits.
