August 20, 2024Categories: Colleague Corner
Saint Francis Hospital celebrated another successful graduation of 47 dedicated nurse residents from various care areas including medical-surgical and cardiac Intensive Care Units, main operating room, medical-surgical inpatient units, cardiology, oncology, women and infants, and intermediate care who completed a comprehensive, yearlong Nurse Residency Program.
47 nurse residents from several departments were recognized for completing the yearlong Nurse Residency Program.
Throughout the past year, these nurses have embraced the opportunity to enhance their skills, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to evidence-based practices that will impact the quality of patient care. Our nurse residents completed evidence-based practice projects, covering a spectrum of topics such as caring for patients with alcohol dependence, c. diff in critical care units, breast support for female sternotomy patients, pain management in advanced cancer patients, cost-effectiveness of disposable clamps in the OR, reducing sharps injuries and controlling noise levels on inpatient units, patient education and familiar voice recordings, and more.
“This momentous occasion marks a significant milestone in the professional journeys of these nurses, and we could not be prouder of their achievements,” said Kaitlyn Savicki, MSN, RN, Center for Nursing Education & Practice Innovation.
The Nurse Residency Program is under the direction of Kaitlyn Savicki, MSN, RN, and Melissa Mulvey, MSN, RN-BC.
