During Nurses Week, we proudly recognize the incredible dedication and compassion of our nursing team at Healthcare for the Homeless, an interdisciplinary primary care clinic located at the Friends of the Homeless Shelter in Springfield. In partnership with Mercy Medical Center, the City of Springfield, and our behavioral health colleagues, our nurses provide critical care to individuals experiencing homelessness by meeting people where they are, both physically and emotionally.

Erin Saunders, RN, says her greatest fulfillment comes from doing street outreach, providing wound care and support to individuals living in homeless encampments. Erin’s work exemplifies the heart of nursing, compassion, courage, and commitment to serving those most in need.

To all our nurses, thank you for the impact you make every day. Your work uplifts our community and ensures that dignity and health are within reach for all. Acknowledgement to our other nurses not in the photo: Katelyn Wrzesinski, RN; Holle Garvey, PMHNP-BC; and Monica Baker, RN.
