Beta Sigma Lambda (BSL) Educational Foundation held its seventh annual Hartford Step Off Classic on Saturday, March 30 at The Bushnell. Part of the event each year is a Health & Wellness Expo, designed to bring valuable information and screenings to attendees. Several Trinity Health Of New England service lines participated in the Expo, with the Men’s Health Institute providing prostate screenings.
Other service lines represented were Rehabilitation, Urology, Weight Management, and Women’s Health including Breast Health and Women and Infants.
In addition, on Friday, March 29, BSL Educational Foundation, in partnership with Trinity Health Of New England and My People Clinical Services, hosted a screening of the film Bike Vessel at the Mark Twain House. Bike Vessel tells the story of Donnie Seals, Sr., who underwent three open heart surgeries in his 40s, changed his lifestyle, and began biking. Donnie’s son, Eric, is a Chicago-based director and cinematographer who documented a bike trip with his father from St. Louis to Chicago.
Following the movie screening, a community panel discussion was held, featuring Trinity Health Of New England Physicians, David Inyangetor, M.D., Primary Care, and William Gionfriddo, M.D., Cardiology, along with Eric and Donnie.
