Congressman Joe Courtney Visits Saint Francis Emergency Department

U.S. Congressman Joe Courtney visited Saint Francis on Monday, March 26. During a tour of the Emergency Department, he made stops in the Trauma Room and main waiting area. Congressman Courtney, who was joined by Dan Moen, Acting President, and David Shapiro, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, spoke with Jennifer Martin, M.D., Chair of the Emergency Department, about the challenges facing emergency departments across the country.

Congressman Courtney, who is a member of the House Education and Workforce Committee, is a member of the Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Development and the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions. He spoke with leadership about ongoing efforts to address staffing challenges and issues around workplace violence directed at providers, as one of his committee charges is enhancing training and prevention of these incidents.
