In Recognition of Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month, the University of Connecticut chapter of Alpha Phi Omega (APO), a national service fraternity, came together to create 100 origami butterflies displaying encouraging messages. The fraternity donated these butterflies to the Mandell MS Center, where they will decorate the Infusion Center and be given to patients during their treatments to bring a bit of brightness to their day.

Brieanna Toedt, a junior at UConn, is a member of APO and the daughter of a patient at the Mandell MS Center. Brieanna connected with Kelly Schumacher, Clinical Supervisor, to organize the heartfelt donation to the Center.

“We are so grateful to Alpha Phi Omega’s donation of these origami butterflies,” Kelly said. “The butterfly is not only a symbol of MS awareness but also of how unique each and every one of our patients are. The kind words and messages of hope are making our patients feel supported and more connected to the community.”
