Saint Mary’s Hospital welcomed the holiday season with its annual Celebration of Lights, a cherished tradition that brought colleagues and community members together for an evening of reflection, music, and festive cheer.

The event began in the Saint Mary’s Chapel with a serene opening ceremony. Amy Mikolite, MA, BCC, Manager of Spiritual Care, led an opening prayer, followed by a thoughtful reflection and a Gospel reading by chaplain Judy Bellemere. The chapel resonated with the sounds of the season as Judy Randall, Health Information Management Specialist, performed Silent Night.
Adding to the beauty of the evening, S&A Serenades, featuring violinists Amalia Alexander and Sophia Nicoescu, provided both the opening and closing musical selections. Guests enjoyed cookies and hot chocolate, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the more than 30 colleagues and community members who attended.
Reflecting on the significance of the event, Robert Roose, MD, MPH, President of Saint Mary’s Hospital, shared, "We all carry a light within us. To illuminate care and community, both physically and symbolically, reflects the essence of this season and the spirit of our Celebration of Lights."
The Celebration of Lights has long been a hallmark of Saint Mary’s Hospital, symbolizing the start of the holiday season and offering an opportunity for reflection and togetherness. The highlight of the evening was a festive light display as Saint Mary’s façade lights danced to the tune of Carol of the Bells. Adding to the magical scene, the trees surrounding the hospital were decorated with white lights and an illuminated manger glowed right beside a multicolored Christmas tree. This year’s event continued Saint Mary’s Celebration of Lights tradition, illuminating the spirit of the season and reinforcing the hospital’s commitment to community and connection.
