Recently, Saint Francis Hospital was honored to welcome State Senator Saud Anwar, MD, and State Senator Jeff Gordon, MD, for tours and discussions about Trinity Health Of New England’s commitment to caring for the community.

Senator Anwar (right) spoke with colleagues, including Jane Marozzi, RN, BSN, C-EFM, C-MNN, Nurse Manager, Maternity, and Kelley Reddington, MSN, RN, CNML, RNC-OB, C-EFM, C-OBE, Perinatal Safety Nurse, during his tour of Saint Francis.

Senator Anwar and Senator Gordon, the only two physicians serving in the Connecticut General Assembly, were guided by Steven Hanks, MD, MMM FACP, FFSMB, President and Chief Executive Officer of Trinity Health Of New England, and Robert Roose, MD, MPH, President of Acute Care. Dr. Hanks and Dr. Roose introduced the senators to physician leaders and colleagues from across the hospital and showcased the clinical expertise, groundbreaking programs and strategic investments that are innovating health care delivery across our organization.

As practicing physicians who also help shape health care policy at the state level, Senators Anwar and Gordon bring a unique perspective to conversations about access, quality, workforce development and innovation. Their visits provided an opportunity to highlight the important work taking place at Saint Francis, from expanding services and advancing clinical capabilities to investing in technology, facilities and the people who make exceptional patient care possible.

The visits served to engage with state leaders who understand health care both at the bedside and in the legislature. Together, through collaboration, innovation and a shared commitment to the health of our communities, we are helping shape the next chapter for Saint Francis Hospital.
