On November 3, 2024, Saint Mary’s Hospital and Trinity Health Of New England hosted the inspiring “Fearlessly Female” event at the Grand Oak Villa in Watertown, Connecticut. The event brought together more than 250 women and men from across the community to celebrate resilience, strength, and the importance of safety.
Keynote speaker, Elizabeth Smart, provided inspiration and a call to embracing happiness.
The highlight of the day was the keynote address by Elizabeth Smart, a survivor of one of the most well-known child abduction cases in recent history. Now a passionate advocate and founder of the Elizabeth Smart Foundation, Elizabeth shared her powerful story of overcoming adversity. Her talk inspired attendees, emphasizing that it’s possible to transform trauma into advocacy and to illuminate a path of hope for others.
Beyond the keynote, attendees had the chance to hear from a panel of safety experts and participate in workshops led by health and wellness professionals from Saint Mary’s Hospital and Trinity Health Of New England. Partnering with the Waterbury Police Department, Jane Doe No More®, Escape Alive Survival Skills®, and the Greater Waterbury YMCA, the event provided valuable resources on self-defense, family safety, and wellness.
The event was a blend of education, community, and empowerment, filled with engaging activities, a delicious luncheon, and raffle opportunities. By the end of the day, participants left feeling inspired, better informed, and equipped with tools to prioritize their health and safety.
