In the U.S., 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Factors like family history or a previous atypical biopsy can further increase a woman's risk of developing the disease.
Prevention is power, diagnosing breast cancer early is key. Here are ways to identify abnormalities:
- Speaking with your provider
- Schedule annual mammograms
- Performing monthly self-exams
Prioritize your routine health screenings. After all, staying on a healthy course and detecting health concerns early is important. Mammography screenings significantly reduces a woman’s risk of dying from breast cancer.
Mammograms begin at age 40 for most women, but those at high risk of breast cancer may need to start earlier.
